The WD elements model uses the fast USB 2.0 connection with data transfer rate of 480Mb/second, which will allow your computer to transfer data to it at maximum speed! The disk also has a rotational speed of 7200 RPM (revolution per minute, that is the number of a full disk rotation per minute), at the time of writing this, hard disk have rotations speed between 4500 to 7200 rpm, (10.000 rpm already hitting the market), faster rotation meaning higher transfer speed.
Based on these spec, the drive has an average read speed between 34 and 35 MB/s and write speeds between 30 to 33 MB/s, great for videos, music and other files, it can also operate well in a networked environment where data can be shared or streamed over a network.
